Hi there, thanks for visiting!

I’m a technical program manager at OpenAI working on safety research and alignment to ensure we build and deploy the safest, most capable frontier models. Previously, I have worked on tackling AI and quantum technology challenges to solve commercial and NatSec challenges at Google and SandboxAQ, a former Alphabet tech start-up spun out of Google X. I also worked as a privacy engineer on the emerging tech division at Google X, and participated in adversarial testing/ Red-teaming efforts for Gemini, PaLM, Bard as a GenAI Ambassador.

Some problem spaces I’m interested in includes:

  1. AI governance for catastrophic risks from advanced AI systems

  2. Alt-PNT technology for navigation in GPS-denied environments

  3. Battery life cycle prediction for large-scale industrial use cases

I hold dual-degrees from Cornell University in Computer Systems Engineering (B.S.) and Government (B.A.) with a concentration in public policy. My masters is in International Security Studies from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, with a concentration in the security implications of emerging technology.

At Cornell, I managed the business and operations team of Engineers in Action. We’re committed to building sustainable infrastructure in the most remote and isolated communities to help bring economic and educational opportunities to the community members.

I’m also the founder of State of the Pod, a student-driven podcast production actively trying to combat science misinformation by podcasting about latest developments in science and tech from an ethical perspective.

I’m passionate about data privacy rights and believe technology can be a great equalizer when implemented correctly. If you would like to chat about my work or on-going projects, feel free to email me at stateoftheyunyun@gmail.com!
